The Digital Product Passport is a digital identity - a digital record containing key information about a product throughout its entire lifecycle, from manufacturing and distribution to use, repair, and recycling. The Digital Product Passport (DPP) will become mandatory starting in 2027 and will transform the way consumers, companies, and regulators access product information.
AKD, as a qualified trust service provider, plays a key role in ensuring the security and authenticity of Digital Product Passports. All transactions and records within the system are cryptographically signed and legally valid throughout the European Union. Every subsequent modification is signed and recorded, ensuring full transparency and security.
In partnership with ENSESO and through the sunrise2027.ai platform, secure electronic authentication and document signing are enabled in full compliance with the eIDAS 2.0 regulation.
AKD and ENSESO already operate large-scale Digital Product Passport systems and, within the framework of the EU TPD regulation, have issued 5.5 billion “digital passports” for tobacco products. This demonstrates the reliability of a system capable of monitoring mass production and product circulation in real time.
