AKD is an authorized legal entity to perform the tasks referred to in Article 22 of the Identity Card Act (Official Gazette 62/15). It aligns its activities with Regulation (EU) No. 910/2014 (eIDAS) and relevant implementing acts of the European Commission governing the issuance and use of certificates on electronic identity cards, applying the eIDAS 2.0/2021/004 proposal to ensure the security, functionality, and content of identification documents.
For the production of identification documents, AKD holds EU SECRET and NATO SECRET business security certificates issued by the National Security Council Office (UVNS). These are the highest possible levels of certification, allowing for the handling of classified international data of this security clearance level.
The acquisition of these certificates is preceded by a thorough security check, confirming the legal entity's ability to protect classified data. The European Commission has classified the security elements and graphic preparations for the production of travel documents with an EU SECRET confidentiality level, requiring data processing and storage in a TEMPEST zoned area – Secure Zone 1, and on an information system accredited by the Information Systems Security Accreditation Agency (ZSIS).
AKD has accredited its own information system for processing classified data, enabling it to manage the entire design and graphic preparation process for documents, including the creation and forensic examination of samples in accordance with the European Commission's technical specifications classified at the EU SECRET level.
