Since July 1, 2009, biometric electronic passports of the second generation have been issued in Croatia, in accordance with European Union regulations, the ICAO 9303 international standard, and EU Council regulations 2252/2004 and C 179/1. The design and security features of the Croatian passport are fully aligned with the highest international requirements to ensure authenticity and the protection of personal data.
Achieving and maintaining the highest level of security at AKD is a non-negotiable condition in the production of all types of personal documents. Special attention is given to physical security measures, adherence to strict procedural guidelines, and technical-technological solutions that prevent counterfeiting.
The issuance of electronic passports is an extremely complex process that involves careful selection of materials, integration of security elements, advanced work systems and applications, cryptographic mechanisms, secure collection and transfer of personal data, and precise personalization through laser engraving, one of the most secure document personalization technologies.
Through years of experience, AKD combines various printing and security technologies to create a comprehensive, functional, and fully secure system for the production of personal and travel documents that meets the strictest international standards and user expectations.
